*You will be required to negotiate frequently with various people inside and outside of the company, including clients and in-house staff. - Ability to direct negotiations and discussions, and manage schedules from development of materials in a base language through to preparation for multilingual translation and subsequent delivery to the client
- Ability to create new or adapted documentation based on specifications and reference materials
- Ability to design the structure of new deliverables and propose appropriate workflows or working environments
- Native-level proficiency in Japanese (required for non-native speakers)
- Ability to use Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with basic computer skills
Preferred qualifications
- Certification in Technical Communication Skills Examination
- Experience using DTP software (such as FrameMaker, InDesign, and Illustrator)
Work description
Technical writers create manuals in a base language (Japanese) by identifying information that should be included in product manuals from documents such as design specifications, and writing this information in a manner that is easy to understand for the target users.
- Corresponding with current clients (e-mail/phone correspondence, creating quotations, meetings, providing suggestions, etc.)
- Writing manuals
- Directing and managing the progress of production
- Creating instructional documents for DTP operators/illustrators and checking their work
- Cost management/Profit management of assigned projects
